    Sponsored Walk 2008

picture all committee member Peter Travers with members of his family and me

The walk this year took place on a glorious sunny Sunday morning, certainly the best day that I can remember in 12 years of completing the walk. As feared numbers were down on last year as a group who brought in over £400 in 2007 were not able to take part.

The hardcore of walkers is getting smaller, I was disappointed by the small turnout of our members with M.S. myself and one other out of 144 isn't very good but you can't press-gang people can you.

In spite of this we did manage to raise £1050 which is a lot better than raising nothing at all.

One of our walkers Tina Secker(pictured left bottom) daughter of our Support Officer Dorothy Lewis was completing her 33rd walk, the two walks that she has missed one for hospitalisation and the other for a family christening go to show the dedication that some of our supporters have. Tina who now walks with her husband Keith has raised over £2200 in the last 10 years.(I only have the records of the last 10 years)

Tina was presented with a certificate for her achievement by Warrington's Deputy Mayor at a recent Thankyou party an event we hold once a year to recognize the people that have supported us, unfortunately the photographs didn't make it off the memory card. Whatever happened to film and negatives.

Thanks to Tina's mum we have the photograph on the right of a walk from an earlier year, oh how you've grown Tina and where have those 30 some years gone.
