Press Release
A group of representatives from organisations concerned with the needs of disabled people throughout the region are moving forward to create a centre to support people with respite and residential care and a range of complimentary therapies such as hydrotherapy and physiotherapy
The Griffiths Court Foundation, named in memory of Warrington Headmistress Marjorie Griffiths MBE, have identified land in Birchwood which it is hoped will provide the ideal space to build a new multi million pound centre.
Griffiths Court will seek to provide a source of high quality services for disabled people in the 18-65 age range, their famlies and carers which will focus on respite and residential care services with the aim of promoting independent living and inclusion.
The Foundation, whose Patron is Lord Hoyle ("Warrington, have recently recruited a Project Manager to develop the concept.
The Foundations Secretary Paul Harrison said "Our Mission Statement is 'To provide a source of high quality services for disabled people, their families and carers, which will assist in maintaining independent living", in addition we undertake to work closely with the Birchwood Community and play an active role in meeting community need."
The group have recently begun an initial 4 month consultation period and work is underway on the design of the building. The project is expected to take 3 – 4 years to complete. Anyone requiring anymore information can contact Peter Sackett, Project Manager on 01244 319393.
