Warrington Branch asked to give support to Halton.
In September this year our Chairman was asked by regional office to consider the possibility of providing support to the Halton district group and a preliminary meeting was arranged.
Halton has not had a complete branch for some years even though they arranged a gathering in 2004 that was attended by 167 people supposedly interested in forming a branch. This never materialised and we're now at the point where they have a group of about 25 members. They have not had the volunteers or enough members to organise the branch to a level that would reach Branch Essentials preferred by the MS Society.
A meeting was held on 18 November at Halton hospital education block, chaired by Julie Henney and attended by three representatives from Halton and seven from Warrington.
A full range of topics were discussed covering branch transport, physiotherapy, Warrington branch newsletter, welfare support, finance and social activities.
It was decided that at present the Warrington branch newsletter would include content provided by Halton and distributed to the names provided by Halton together with Warrington branch members. The next newsletter to be early January 2010, also that Halton members take part in social events arranged by Warrington.
It was decided by all present that any combining of the branches would take place slowly and that all members from both groups be consulted and opinions gathered before any amalgamation would take place.
